Rooting for Change at Kimwanga School

We rolled up our sleeves and headed to Kimwanga Special School, just a few kilometres from the Uganda border in Bumula, Bungoma County, for a day bursting with purpose, fun, and legacy-building. On 21st June 2025, in partnership with the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Bungoma, we planted a vibrant mix of fruit and indigenous trees, leaving behind more than just greenery. We planted hope, growth, and a commitment to sustainability.

The day kicked off in style. Picture us tuktuk-ing in like climate VIPs, ready to make a difference. The Rotaract team treated us to maindi boiro and nyama tumbukiza, a combination so unusual it had everyone laughing until our stomachs ached. But we dug in, both at the dining table and in the soil.

Every tree planted felt like more than just digging holes and watering saplings. We were planting legacies, creating something the students and community will cherish for years. Laughter, stories, and teamwork filled the air. Volunteers, staff, and students all got their hands dirty, and the energy was contagious.

The day was a celebration of community, care, and action. Every tree now stands as a reminder that even small steps can spark big change.

A massive thank you to everyone who showed up, dug deep, and made it happen. From planting trees to sharing food, stories, and laughter, you made this day unforgettable.

At LeadingSpace, we believe that change starts with action, roots with community, and growth with care. On 21st June 2025 at Kimwanga Special School, we saw all three come to life and the seeds we planted are only the beginning.
